This was the first US production facility for Valeo Electronics, a French automotive component manufacturer. The 76,000 sf building houses robotic assembly machinery, offices, and employee support facilities. As skylights were impermissable due to potential hail damage, natural light and views of the Texas sky were introduced through a generous north-facing clerestory and large glazed openings screened from the western sun by bris soliel panels. Interior partitions are glass where possible, increasing interaction between office and manufacturing workers. The project was constructed using steel framing bearing on site-cast concrete panels.
