The Covid 19 pandemic has been a final blow for many retailers, and also many traditional retail modalities. We believe a physical presence will continue to be necessary for brands to establish themselves. The hope is in the coming years we will see an explosion of innovation to fill economic voids. Limelight is a retail incubator concept that makes use of three traditional retail spaces to create an activated space for retailers to occupy a small footprint. One of the greatest challenges of micro retail environments is overcoming the barrier to entry. Since each retailer is not given access to the exterior, luring them inside becomes paramount. Instead of allowing spaces to stack front to back with a central circulation path, this concept creates “bubbles” of space within an overall circulation void. Emerging retailers needing expanded space can occupy the peripheral space. This allows direct sight-lines through the space by providing a high degree of transparency. This results in a strong visual presence for each micro retailer, and a more compelling experience to explore them. The goal is that prospective retailers would gain access to a luxury retail environment and gain a launch pad for their brand.
