Robin Road Residence

In approaching the design of this large home located in an established neighborhood, Ibañez Shaw Architecture adopted an approach that reduced the form to to two simple extruded gables, thereby reducing the visual scale of the home. The two forms- one single story, the other two story, were arrayed to create a private landscaped courtyard for the family with generous outdoor living areas.

The clear massing allowed for the investigation of a richly textured masonry wall that was laid in a standard modular pattern. The resulting brick facades, constructed using an iridescent iron spot brick, create ever-changing patterns of shade in the bright Texas sun.
